Bag of Fireworks (title pending)

Devon and I are gonna be posting on here about some of our favorite music and movies that have had a huge influence in our lives, seeing as how we’re just so especially awesome at life, and knowing that all the millions of you privileged folks have been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for this, we decided to finally cave and give the people what they want. I just broke thousands of writing errors in one drawn out sentence. Lucky for me, I already passed my college English courses, so we’ll let Devon’s current professor cringe at the sight of this ghastly horrible piece of writing. She’s crazy anyways.

I (Dustin) will be writing in italics and Devon will be writing in a normal font. This is so you can distinguish our voices even though everyone we ever talk to says we sound exactly the same. Thats cause Devon idolizes me.

This here be a list of our favorite songs from the past week. Find these songs but don’t make a mix out of it cause you can’t have two songs from the same band in one mix. That’s just lame. We’ll have a good mix for you to try on for size in the next post. Here’s 13 songs cause 13 is half of 26? The 26th is Devon’s birthday so everyone owes him a shot to the nuts.

1. Car-Built to Spill-This song is quite possibly perfect. Srsly. “I wanna see it when you find out what comets, stars, and moons are all about.” Have you listened to it? Apparently I have 13 times this week. Do it a now.

2. Oh Comely-Neutral Milk Hotel-There’s something very beautiful about Neutral Milk Hotel. This is the best album ever. And yes, it does actually sound more beautiful on vinyl.

3. Dead Hearts-Stars This song just gets me pumped to be alive. I wrote “Dead Hearts are Everywhere” on half of my notes for la escuela.

4. Big Pimpin-Jay Z This one was inspired by watching a whole season of Entourage in one day instead of doing homework. Best decision of the week.

5. Is There a Ghost?-Band of Horses The thing I love about Band of Horses is how haunting their vocals are, and since I found out today that my dorm is actually legitimately haunted, I thought this song was perfect for the occasion.

6. Cakewalk-The Snake, The Cross, The Crown-Devon chose this song. I chose Gypsy Melodies, but you can’t have this happen twice where we choose the same album different songs. I’ll give him this one. The Lyrics are just so catchy. Hooked. Cause guess what, “I wanna do what I want, and I wanna get paid.”

7. Misunderstood-Wilco- I love songs that build-up cause when they start to rock they rock hard. Its mind-bottling. That last song is another one of those As soon as this song breaks you just wanna dance and scream at the top of your lungs.

8. Broken Lungs/Music Box-Thrice-As Doug so eloquently put it, “This band will never cease to blow my mind.” Thanks Doug for being cooler than me.

9. We Own the Sky-M83-Digital beauty. There’s a dubstep remix by Datsik for this song that I kinda enjoy too. Shut up. Dubstep can be a fun.

10. Holland, 1945-Neutral Milk Hotel-You can never go wrong with Neutral Milk Hotel. These guys are geniuses. I wish they were still around creating music today cause, aaahhhhh it’s sofa king good.

11. Up Against the Wall-Peter Bjorn and John-Sexy Pizza was playing this song the other night when I went in for a slice of cheese pizza. They have great taste in music there. I have great taste for pizza. I hope this relationship continues to work. Don’t wanna deal with a broken heart. John Cusack is a trooper. He’s had his heart stomped on thousands of times, but he keeps on goin along in life. Against the Wall starring John Cusack. Coming soon. Yes? Ok maybe not. It needs a little work. And I need to get John Cusack to agree to star in it. Looks like I’ve got something to do this next week.

12. Never Meant-American Football-I wish I would have heard this song a long time ago cause its super awesome sauce. I’ll have some awesome sauce with French Toast puhlease.

13. Untitled 02 (Morrissey’s Song)-Brand New-Somehow I feel like Jesse Lacey got into my head when he wrote this.

Well these 13 songs will make you pretty happy. You can listen to them in a row or put them on what the people in the apple company like to call “shuffle.” Before apple became all hip and trendy, it was called random. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying I liked “random” a lot more. It sounds more risky. My roommate is black.
