Bag of Fireworks (title pending)

Devon and I are gonna be posting on here about some of our favorite music and movies that have had a huge influence in our lives, seeing as how we’re just so especially awesome at life, and knowing that all the millions of you privileged folks have been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for this, we decided to finally cave and give the people what they want. I just broke thousands of writing errors in one drawn out sentence. Lucky for me, I already passed my college English courses, so we’ll let Devon’s current professor cringe at the sight of this ghastly horrible piece of writing. She’s crazy anyways.

I (Dustin) will be writing in italics and Devon will be writing in a normal font. This is so you can distinguish our voices even though everyone we ever talk to says we sound exactly the same. Thats cause Devon idolizes me.

This here be a list of our favorite songs from the past week. Find these songs but don’t make a mix out of it cause you can’t have two songs from the same band in one mix. That’s just lame. We’ll have a good mix for you to try on for size in the next post. Here’s 13 songs cause 13 is half of 26? The 26th is Devon’s birthday so everyone owes him a shot to the nuts.

1. Car-Built to Spill-This song is quite possibly perfect. Srsly. “I wanna see it when you find out what comets, stars, and moons are all about.” Have you listened to it? Apparently I have 13 times this week. Do it a now.

2. Oh Comely-Neutral Milk Hotel-There’s something very beautiful about Neutral Milk Hotel. This is the best album ever. And yes, it does actually sound more beautiful on vinyl.

3. Dead Hearts-Stars This song just gets me pumped to be alive. I wrote “Dead Hearts are Everywhere” on half of my notes for la escuela.

4. Big Pimpin-Jay Z This one was inspired by watching a whole season of Entourage in one day instead of doing homework. Best decision of the week.

5. Is There a Ghost?-Band of Horses The thing I love about Band of Horses is how haunting their vocals are, and since I found out today that my dorm is actually legitimately haunted, I thought this song was perfect for the occasion.

6. Cakewalk-The Snake, The Cross, The Crown-Devon chose this song. I chose Gypsy Melodies, but you can’t have this happen twice where we choose the same album different songs. I’ll give him this one. The Lyrics are just so catchy. Hooked. Cause guess what, “I wanna do what I want, and I wanna get paid.”

7. Misunderstood-Wilco- I love songs that build-up cause when they start to rock they rock hard. Its mind-bottling. That last song is another one of those As soon as this song breaks you just wanna dance and scream at the top of your lungs.

8. Broken Lungs/Music Box-Thrice-As Doug so eloquently put it, “This band will never cease to blow my mind.” Thanks Doug for being cooler than me.

9. We Own the Sky-M83-Digital beauty. There’s a dubstep remix by Datsik for this song that I kinda enjoy too. Shut up. Dubstep can be a fun.

10. Holland, 1945-Neutral Milk Hotel-You can never go wrong with Neutral Milk Hotel. These guys are geniuses. I wish they were still around creating music today cause, aaahhhhh it’s sofa king good.

11. Up Against the Wall-Peter Bjorn and John-Sexy Pizza was playing this song the other night when I went in for a slice of cheese pizza. They have great taste in music there. I have great taste for pizza. I hope this relationship continues to work. Don’t wanna deal with a broken heart. John Cusack is a trooper. He’s had his heart stomped on thousands of times, but he keeps on goin along in life. Against the Wall starring John Cusack. Coming soon. Yes? Ok maybe not. It needs a little work. And I need to get John Cusack to agree to star in it. Looks like I’ve got something to do this next week.

12. Never Meant-American Football-I wish I would have heard this song a long time ago cause its super awesome sauce. I’ll have some awesome sauce with French Toast puhlease.

13. Untitled 02 (Morrissey’s Song)-Brand New-Somehow I feel like Jesse Lacey got into my head when he wrote this.

Well these 13 songs will make you pretty happy. You can listen to them in a row or put them on what the people in the apple company like to call “shuffle.” Before apple became all hip and trendy, it was called random. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying I liked “random” a lot more. It sounds more risky. My roommate is black.

BOND.

i'm going to see james bond at midnight. i was hesitant and my friend asked, too late for you? ha ya right. there is never a too late in my vocabulary. unless i'm too late for work. then i wont go. but that doesn't happen. it almost did on friday. i almost got dan to just tell john we were going nowhere and so we weren't going to show up. then i fell asleep and we were there. two hours late but we were there. and i had to drive to evergreen after that and work in a garage that was 10 degrees the whole day. and then i slept in this morning and it was too late to go snowboarding. so i guess you can say there is a too late for some things. but never a nighttime too late. cause you been nighttimin baby uh huh. great song. review for the month of october. i turned 23. holy balls. saw some sweet shows this month, mates of state, straylight run, ben kweller, conor oberst, THE FAINT!!! sofa king amazing. brett dennen is a new fave. he is awkwardly radical. my record player returned home a couple weeks ago. i was very excited. keystone opened last week! so stoked on that. and the new passes you can keep in your pocket and still get scanned. not so stoked on the new gondola. and the eco friendly bathrooms. they smell funky. or the overly crowded park. i grew le moustachio. its sexy. like elliott from scrubs. season seven of scrubs came out on dvd. late birthday/early christmas present anyone? please? rilo kiley has a chick singer named jenny lewis. not a dude named rilo kiley. smoke is no fun in your eyes. or your voice. DANO THE MAN-O. smokey the retard pisses me off every day. i try to avoid him even though he's my manager. i dont want a promotion so it helps that i'm a jerk. (I have no responsibilities, i answer to josbe, and he asks me what we should do, so i'm not blamed for anything, and i get paid just as much, if not more than him). the epileptic surprise. the return of SNB. CARDINOLOGY! 30 Rock started! with harpo, and jennifer aniston(she's a babe). the office is dead to me. earl is hilarious but tivo wont record it. glad i gots tha interweb. doug comes home next week. so do other people. its gonna be a kick butt party. this is my first thanksgiving at home in four years. kinda wierd. thats pretty much what comes to mind at this point in time in this wonderful evening. i doubt anyone will read it. whatever.

WAHOO!

I love Wahoo's fish tacos. I went there the other day and forgot how great it is, until that moment. i also love colorado. it has been missed. until now. i also love awesome shows, like the one i went to the other day. and the one i'm going to on tuesday. and then Ben Kweller on friday!!!!!! woot! woot, that word reminds me of my brother devon. he's too awesome for everybody else. kinda like me. i wish he was here. but he's not. he's doing something with his life. go you. and everybody else who is going somewhere in this wonderful world. i really wish i wasnt a 22 year college dropout sometimes. thats why i'm goign back. when i have money. cause i hate borrowing it. especially when there's lots of interest rates involved. i just need to get better at saving moolah. instead of spending it on music...sigh...i should just stay at home and learn to play an instrument instead. but i'm too a.d.d. i'm not patient. which is why i watch scrubs. all the time. cause its random. and hilarious. and i like it alot. i wish it was still on nbc on thursday nights. stupid nbc. and stupid me for not saving any money in the past. i'm stuck at home. but i guess i'll get some great riding in this year at keystone!!!!! cause i dont work on saturdays. NOVEMBER 7 BABY!!!!!!!!!! i am so there. anybody wanna come with me?

College Algebra

What is the point of College Algebra? Especially when you don't even understand what your teacher is saying cause she doesn't speak english. I have decided that I am already sick of school. I need to take a long break. It's gonna take me a long time to get through this(that's what she said) I have decided to travel the world. I will be buying my passport very soon. I will probably end up staying somewhere on a beach in South America somewhere. Doug said he would go to Brasil with me. That would rule.

54 and 4x4

Its a b-e-a-utiful day. 54 degrees(that's 12 in celsius) the sun is shining. the snow is melting. and i have a borrowed jeep. it is divine. i couldn't ask for anything more fun. i want one now. if you have the means i recommend it for a fun weekend type of car. doug says its no fun to own if its a soft top. and for road trips. I'll keep that in mind Doug.

I'm paying for this?

I like my astronomy class. The professor is funny.
He just brought to my attention the fact that spider-man and the hulk and other superheroes are fictional. you get sick from the poison. the poison has no effect whatsoever on a transformation of your mechanical waves. it just makes you vomit. I could have sworn it would work. I've been waiting for something to get me so i could turn into a superhero. that would be sweet. I would love to be ripped and just be able to beat the crap out of people. Maybe i should go to the gym.

"Dwight you ignorant SLUT"

Depression leads to suicide.
Suicide causes more deaths a year than a bailer.
I'm not depressed thankfully, so i think my chances of death are higher due to a bailer.
that's comforting seeing as how the closest bailer is at smith's which is 8 blocks away. and i don't work there. I'm safe. for now. unless the bailer zombies roll one into my apartment. then i'm screwed.

Its and Astronomy

Astronomy is enjoyable.
But not so much when you have to sit next to an it.
You know, those jared leto wanna bes.
Monster feet and hands like a man,
Skinny as a twig like a woman.
Too much trendy clothing to tell.
It even smells like a girl, but i dont know if it is.
Freakin me out.
Professor Powell should sit next to it and start making fun of it.
I dont think it would laugh.
It would prob go slit its wrist and write a poem.
Astronomy involves the stars.
The sun is a star as well.
Go out in daylight emo piece of crap.
You might actually begin to appreciate life.
Effin trendy emo whores.

Homework

What is the point of homework?
To get smarter?
To keep yourself busy?
An excuse to form study groups?
Brain racking torment?
Cramming of useless information for GE classes you really dont need?
hmmm....i dont know but i think i would have to go with all of the above.
just like a multiple choice test.
if all of the above is there, what do you choose.
probably all of the above.

So this is the new year...

It's a new year, and a new semester here in Proho.
Some people ask me what my resolutions are.
Don't have any, don't care to have any.
Why?
They are just giving you an excuse to fail.
Improve yourself daily not yearly.
That is all.
